Should I intentionally choose Housing or should I just let it go randomly?

Hi,

I understand that PSU offered its incoming Freshman with Housing options. While this is convenient for many who wanted a good housing before its full, I personally are looking forward to make more friends in the dorm and don’t mind what kind of dorms. Is there a housing option that suites my need or should i just leave it to PSU?

I’m not actually a Penn State student yet, but transferring, and I read up each of the dorms today. From what I read, South Halls and Pollock Halls are a mix of upperclassmen/freshmen and also house sororities and other organizations. They’re closer to downtown than the other dorms. If you select one of them as your preference, you may get it, but someone from another thread said there was a lot more social activity in East Halls, as it’s all freshmen. While this may be what you’re looking for, keep in mind there may be more alcohol/noise than you’d like. If you want more friends and don’t mind the party atmosphere, I think East is your best bet. I don’t know if West and North Halls are available to freshmen, but West seems a little out of the way (probably depends on your major). North is suites and is close to the Agricultural Science building, but farther from Downtown than South and Pollock. There are some decent maps on the PSU website if you want to see where each of the halls is* exactly.

Thanks for the reply! That’s really helpful
