Should I invest in a laptop anti-theft lock?

I'm wondering if this is necessary. And what is the best lock there is?

Yeah I just got one off Amazon.com for the hell of it. [Amazon.com: Kensington 64068F MicroSaver Notebook Lock and Security Cable…](http://www.amazon.com/Kensington-64068F-MicroSaver-Notebook-Security/dp/B00000K4KH/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1281648998&sr=8-2) It’s the highest rated/very easy to use/pretty cheap. Took like a day or two to arrive. You won’t need the instructions.

Yes, it would be a good idea that way you don’t have to worry about leaving your laptop if you have to leave it for a few minutes, like to go to the bathroom.

We bought dorm insurance and it ended up being well worth it (two broken iPods and one dead laptop power cord later). It covered both theft and accidental damage. Highly recommend it.

Tulare, how much did you pay for the dorm insurance?

The kids who did the Q&A at my child’s orientation seemed to say that lots of kids did use the USB lock that attaches your laptop to the desk.

I’m thinking about doing this: [Absolute Software | LoJack for Laptops: Track, Locate, and Recover Stolen Computers](Leader in Data and Device Protection - Absolute Home & Office)

I did it for my last laptop just in case, but never had to use it. But I’m also thinking about a lock just so I wouldn’t have to go through the recovery process.

We paid about $120 for $5000 coverage with a $25 deductible. We used CSI.
