Should I list a sport where I won national championships?

I competed in an unusual team sport but quit after freshman year due to injuries. The way the competition circuit was structured, we would compete in a “national championship” maybe twice or thrice a year, but often they only attracted competitors from nearby states and weren’t truly national.

I may take the sport up again in college, but it’s not a NCAA sport that generates revenue/attention for a college, and no scholarships are offered in the sport (except by a handful of colleges that I am not applying to.)

Competing in the sport was significant for my character/personality, but other than the activities section, I’m probably not going to mention it much in the application. In high school, I only participated in it freshman year.

Should I list the sport as an activity on the CommonApp?

Thank you for your help!

It depends on what else you have. If you have other high profile achievements, this might drop off the bottom of that list. If you have very little to put down otherwise, then add it. If it’s somewhere in between, you can throw in the line, but it’s really not going to make much of a difference one way or the other for the purpose of admissions unless you decide to make a big deal of it by writing about it in the application essays.
