I know that I want to get a MBA, and will do all I can to get one. My question is, would I be better off getting a undergraduate degree in economics, or a degree in finance?

I'd say economics. My dad has his MBA, but the funny thing is, his other degrees are as follows: B.S. in biochemical engineering, M.S. in microbiology, Ph.D. in genetics. LOL!

do economics. Undergraduate finance classes are very similar to their graduate conterparts and people who major in finance and then get an mba are usually very bored in their graduate classes.

I'm going to business school next year at UCLA Anderson, and I did my B.S. in Biology.

Like someone said before, MBA and undergrad biz programs are very similar, so there would be some redundancy. But other than that, whether you majored in econ or business will not hurt or help you when it comes to finance. I'd apply to both business schools and other universities, then pick the one you feel fits you best.

doesn't matter

Major in finance if you get into Wharton, Stern, or Ross. Otherwise, economics.

a top undergraduate business school will offer virtually the same classes as MBA's at near levels. with that said, it really doesn't matter what you major in, but if you want some diversity in your academic career then go with economics.
