Has anyone moved from an okay or good high school to a worse one and has given them a benefit? I am considering moving high schools because my high school has really bad teachers but the worse high school doesn’t have that good of an environment. I believe switching to the worse school has benefits when I am applying for college but my parents don’t know. I just want some people’s thoughts on this and also wanted to know if any people got any actual benefits. Real life examples and numbers (eg. GPA or SAT improvements) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You!
One of two things will likely happen if your move:
- You will have a higher class rank because you are going to a worse school, but as a result, your standardized testing with go down.
- You will be at a school which does not improve your rank and it is bad for your standardized testing.
Most people are complaining that their current school is too bad, not the other way around. Even though your school may be more competative, you are getting a better quality education which will show.
Oh my gosh. The American Dream in reverse! Choosing a poor school for the sake of elevating your ranking? Are you kidding? I know people who have given up so much to find a way to attend decent schools. You won’t learn as much and will be unprepared for rigorous college classes. You will not have peers to collaborate with now and in a decade from now. It’s a loss loss proposition. Don’t do it!
