A few of the schools that I have decided not to attend have sent me requests to update them on the status of my decision. Others have just sent me e-mails asking me to submit my deposit. I realize that I should update the schools that have asked me to (and given me an outlet to do so) but should I notify the others? If so, do I just shoot the admissions office an e-mail? And what would I say?

ETA: Sorry my title is so grammatically weird... It's early and I'm tired. :P

I’m going to notify all the colleges that I won’t be enrolling because it’s just a simply courtesy. I think it shows that you have enough class to at least tell the college that you won’t be able to attend the college rather than them waiting for the next two weeks to see if your deposit is coming because it got lost in the mail or something. Also, I know that at my high school, if students don’t give that courtesy to colleges of letting them know they won’t be attending, they will completely disregard students who apply to their school the next year, even if they are extremely well-qualified. Then, the school has to try to win back that respect, even though only a handful of students completely turned the college off from ever admitting someone from our high school.

I’ve notified all the colleges that have sent pre-paid envelopes and online submission forms to do so.
