I was accepted to a college I want and I sent in a deposit to that college. I'm deciding not to go so do I have to notify them? If I don't, will my name be on the record?

It 'd be the polite thing to do. They might still be able to give your slot to someone else. Regardless, it would take as long to notify them as much as it was to make your post and now, reading the replies.

Yes, you have to notify them. Unless you want to pay the bills they’re going to send you.

Just out of curiosity, will you be attending another college? Did you clear a wait-list or did you double-deposit?

You should always inform college that you will not be attending if you have already previously accepted admission. In fact, you should inform both admissions and the housing department if you have also already signed up for housing. It takes only a short letter to both. For one thing, you can sometimes get back some or all of your deposits. For another, particularly if you have signed up for housing, the college can actually charge you under your contract the full first emester’s housing amount if you fail to inform the housing department of your intent not to attend within a reasonable time before the first semester begins.

I didn’t send in any information though. They sent me health forms and housing forms and I didn’t fill it in.

You sent a deposit. They have the information they need to bill you.

Tell them you’re not coming.
