Yeah. Guys, if you’re planning on joining a fraternity, you definitely need a suit. There’s a high quality Italian ones online for $100 if you look around, you won’t regret it.

You don’t understand because you’ve never been poor. Better to buy a $6 suit, and have money for other things, then spend $600 on a suit.

You don’t understand that a $6 suit wasn’t originally a $6 suit. A $6 suit, could be that same $600 suit you have. The suits at Goodwill are the suits that rich people give away so they can get out of paying their taxes. There’s some good stuff at Goodwill. Not all of it’s good, but there’s a lot of good suits there.

^ seriously - not to mention that a $600 suit isn’t exactly bespoke or anything (sorry BMWdude… mostly that you think Boss is a “nice” suit) - thats still well within the realm of mass produced suits that are pretty much going to be the same. Just find a cheap suit that you like and get it well tailored.

Don’t buy a suit. You aren’t even in college yet. Your body will change and the suit will not fit if you gain weight/bulk up/grow a couple of inches/etc. Then you will have wasted money.

The reason you need a suit is the best time to buy a suit. Plus, you’ll need to buy all the accessories (shoes, shirt, tie). Nothing looks more stupid than skate shoes with a suit or someone wearing a suit that does not fit.

Spend suit money on something else…

get a suit only when you see one that you really like and is a good buy. and when you need it, just get it tailored, if it is isn’t the perfect fit size.

I hear those NYU Stern kids wear suits to class everyday.

I would be fine wearing suits everyday lol. It would be professional.

Actually, most of those suits are there because their owners can no longer get into them. It takes some looking, but there are some very nice clothes at Goodwill and other thrift stores.

Also try the Outlet stores if your state has one. This goes for all merchandise for example, my girlfriend recently went to Coach Outlet for her to get a purse that is 200$ and the macy’s retail price is tripled.

Yes.

Since you likely will keep filling out until mid 20s, you probably want something on the cheap that will fit you well now. Go to H&M and pick out a jacket and matching trousers.

If you’re going to splurge on any item, get a pair of quality shoes in a timeless style. If you take care of them, they will pay for themselves because they will last you 5-10 years of everyday wear (with one or two resolings). A poorly constructed pair (like Kenneth Cole) will last you a year of everyday wear. Find a pair of Allen Edmonds on sale. I bought a similar pair on sale for half of retail; there’s some sticker shock but again they will pay for themselves over time.

A suit is essential in any self-respecting man’s wardrobe. Just buy one really nice one so you don’t have to go through all the lenghty (and costly) alterations.

A $600 suit is a little outrageous, but if you can afford to pay for college, you can afford to spend $200 on a suit. Whatever peice of crap you’ll get for $6 is probably not the best way to represent yourself. If you need, borrow a decent suit from a relative that’s about your size and wear that.

i can barely eat lunch for $6, lmao

imagine wearing an actual $6 suit

lol…the $3 suit tops it
