Should I put him down as a legacy?

My grandpa and great-grandpa both went to Dartmouth, but they both didn’t graduate with a degree from there. They both went for two years and then transferred to another school.
Do you think I should still put them down as legacies or will it hurt my chances? I’m just afraid that they’ll think I will follow their pattern of leaving after two years…and I don’t want them to think that because I really like Dartmouth!

You will not be considered a legacy.

@sybbie719 But they still ask on the CommonApp if any of your relatives attended Dartmouth. Should I even bother?

You can but Dartmouth still only considers legacies as parents of applicants who received their AB from Dartmouth

I wouldn’t , for the reasons that you mentioned, and as @sybbie719 pointed out, you wouldn’t be considered a legacy, anyway.
