Should I re-take again?

Hey everyone. I am wondering if it is vital that I re-take the SAT for a third time.

I took it for the first time in December and got:
630 Critical Reading
660 Writing (10 Essay)
700 Math

Overall-1990. I was happy with my math score but disappointed overall as I was aiming for a minimum of 2100.

I then re-took it in March and did a lot worse:
570 Critical Reading
700 Writing (10 Essay)
640 Math

Though my overall score dropped, my superscore became 2030. I want to retake it for a third time because I am aiming for competitive schools i.e. Dartmouth (my #1), UCLA, etc. However, my parents think I am crazy and keep telling me I need to chill out. So my question is, in your opinion, do you think I should re-take it? If i do however, I'm not sure if I should take it in June or wait until October. With AP testing and SAT subject tests I'm not sure that I would have enough time to study for June, but then again, I don't want to spend my senior summer studying for the SAT. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

sorry but i have bad news:

UCLA doesn’t super score, so they will only care about the 1990. having said that, loads of people get into UCLA with a 1990 so its not that big a deal.

however, if dartmouth is your first choice, 2030 is most likely not enough. dartmouth is obsessed with SAT scores… im not even kidding. of all the colleges in the world, dartmouth cares more about SAT scores than any other. your parents are really cool people for telling you to chill out, but you probably want a 2200 minimum for dartmouth. sorry for the news but dartmouth is pretty hard to get into. (might want to reconsidering studying during the summer… among doing other things of course) good luck!

Retake, but not in June. That would be stupid considering last time you took the SAT in rush you did worse. Chances are that by taking the SAT in June you are not going to do much better. Instead actually try studying a bit over the summer, I mean it should not consume your summer but devote some time to it weekly and try again in October. That would give a higher chance for a better score than just taking it in June. Or just don’t take it again at all…
