I'll make it short and quick.
I took the SAT I two times.
The first time, I got a 2250. CR 700 Math 800 Wr 750
The second time, I got a 2280. CR 800 Math 740 Wr 740
Superscored, I have a 2350.
The question is, should I retake the SAT?
I know for a fact that Dartmouth superscores the SAT because I received an email response affirming its position, but I'm not sure what to do.
Please help me out.

No, you should not retake the SAT. A complete waste of time and money in your case. As a matter of fact, taking it again would probably be a negative to any application to any school.

You need 2 or 3 good SAT IIs, but you DON’T need more SATIs.

thnx!! I was wondering what to do…

If you need a second opinion, I wholeheartedly agree with Consolation. A 2350 superscored is a fantastic score for any institution in the country.

FWIW, D was admitted with the identical superscore components

Well that’s better than what I got in with…plus, with your two scores so close to one another, its pretty obvious that somewhere around 2330-2370 is where you naturally score…no reason to waste money and take it again.

thnx for the replies! the things is, I’m an international student from Korea and most students here tend to have pretty high scores…

The only possible “improvement” you could make at this point is to get an 800 on the writing section. Since you already have a 750, that will gain you precisely NOTHING in admissions.

Asian students often think that they can batter their way into Ivies and similar schools with nothing but top scores and grades. It isn’t true. Yes, they are looking for excellent scores and grades. But they are also looking for something else. You do not want to present yourself as someone who has done nothing but spend 16 or 17 hours a day at school memorizing, memorizing, memorizing in order to do well on tests. Korea is full of kids like that. Why should they pick YOU?

What you need to do now is get good scores (“Good” does not mean 800!) on 2 or 3 SATIIs–not more!!–and go do something that interests you. Hike. Write a short story. Read some philosophy. Volunteer. Do research. Play a sport. Build a robot. Live.

thnx for the advice! Can you recommend anything I can do to make my interests look meaningful?? I’m planning on participating in a marathon and I also love writing. What can I do to produce something meaningful that the colleges would consider “different”, that would separate me from the other applicants? I actually am a junior reporter for this newspaper called the Korea Times and for the school newspaper but apart from that, I can’t find anything else that would help.

It is meaningful if it is meaningful to YOU.
