Should I retake the SAT?

So last June I took the SAT as a Junior and got 2160, which isn't too bad but isn't too great either.
I studied for about 3 months before I retook the test in June but my score actually dropped to a 2100.
(I just don't get it! I studied by buttttt off for the test yet I still scored lower! Anyways, that's beside the point)
Is this score drop gonna look really bad to the colleges?
I was thinking of applying to UCLA Berkeley and all these prestigious schools cuz I was consistently
getting high 2200s and 2300s on the practice tests...now I don't know what to do.
Should I retake the SAT in October? Or should I take the ACT instead to see how it goes?

Take the ACT.

How did you prepare for the SAT? Take a look at the pinned topics in the SAT prep forum and see if you can improve your approach. Were you taking bluebook practice tests or exams from another book?

I also agree with Hawkace that you should look at the ACT, but just taking another test rarely causes a big score increase.

The practice tests give inflated scores snd inflated expectations.

I would try to get the score above the 75th percentile of any school of interest.

I took an SAT prep class and Im sure they usually give you harder tests to prepare you better for the actual exam. Thats how it is for most kids at least…
Will it look bad to take the SAT 3 times?
