Should I re-take the reasoning test?

Might be a stupid question. Excuse me:

I've taken the test once. I got a 2290 (800 writing, 750 reading, 740 math)

If I did take it, it would be on November 4th. I have a solid score, but I feel like I could up my reading and math scores by as many as 30 points. I also feel like I could drop my scores by 30 each on the second go. Do colleges honestly not care AT ALL about lower retakes? What do you think? Is it worth it?

Note: I got an 800 on the SAT Math II subject test (maybe that will show admission offices that I'm more apt in math than the SAT shows?)

I plan on applying to the following colleges/universities:

Harvard
Brown
Dartmouth
Stanford
Princeton
Duke
Amherst
Swartmore
Colgate
Bucknell
UCSB

I have a 4.0 in the most difficult courses and decent to good extra curriculars

Any feedback helps

i suggest you not retake it and focus on EC and other things. Your score is solid enough. I have a friend who got into Yale this year with a 2280 and had strong ECs etc.

a few point difference won't tell the colleges more about you.

I don't think u should. IN MY OPINION (notice the caps), it doesn't make much a difference b/t anything above 2250, any score above can alreay show that u have basic ability to do well in college, after all, that's what this test is for. However, decent EC, is not enough, u have to have something stand out among the decents. And if race is a big influence in ur college admission, play it to ur advantage. eg. if ur hispanic, do math and science club and try to place in competion, if ur asian, avoid it, if ur white, lol...then i guess do something weird...like..starting like a snail or a oreo club (i 'm not joking, these are true stories.) By all means, i 'm not asking anyone to sell their soul to the devil and do something they hate just to get into college, of course u need to have passion in what u do, but choose carefully, u can have many passion, pick the one that's more unique. on the other hand, if ur one of those ppl who just so happens to love things that are common to ur race, eg. asians and piano and math and science. u're gonna have to go a step further though i don't know how. I guess create an after school program to teach less fortunate kids piano?...not sure...hope that was helpful

don't take it.

that's also MY OPINION. But hey, I am in exact accord with rainydays. Anything above a 2250 is the same for even ivy colleges.

Save yourself some work and enjoy your life. Or start a fundraiser and add some more volunteer hours at the local children's hospital.

By the Way an 800 in SAT II math is great. A 740 in SAT I math is sufficient.

I think colleges will get the idea that you have a functional brain.

don't retake.
your scores are good enough, and since you aren't completely sure they would go up there is no reason to take it again.

don't retake it. stop wasting your time.

i see the SAT paranoia is setting in. let me bring you back to reality-- don't retake! you have excellent scores even for those schools.
