Should I retake a 2230? (690 math)

BEFORE YOU FREAK OUT LET ME EXPLAIN

I understand a 2230 is a perfectly acceptable score in most situations and is 99th percentile yay. It's my superscored SAT, 2230, with 770 on reading & writing and 690 on math. I'm mostly considering retaking because of the math part.

Reasons to retake:
- on my practice tests (all billion of them) I would consistently score 750-770.
- 690 is just not 700, and
- I'm applying to some ivies (Cornell, Columbia) and near ivies (Rice, WashU), for
- Architecture, which is math related enough that it might matter.
- 29 on ACT math doesn't help
- I'm an unhooked middle-class white male

Reasons to not retake:
- I can focus on writing essays and finishing my architecture portfolio.
- I've taken the SAT three times already. (math: 620->640->690)
- I get stressed out about testing easily
- If I do well on next weekend's math II subject test (750+) maybe that will make up for it.
- Maybe 770s on critical reading and writing will somehow make up for it?

I have no idea what I'm doing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would retake once more. It’s worth it, really. Writing as it is does not matter a whole lot (if at all) to some colleges, particularly Cornell, leaving you alone with just your Math and CR (which would add up to 1460, of course, which is very respectable, but dangerous considering the 690). This time, lighten your load and just try to do maybe 30 minutes a day out of math and 10 minutes to touch up on the other two subjects.

Bump…

So I should retake, in spite of having taken it three times already?

Practice and study before retaking

No. Ten characters.

A 690 on math is respectable, and just means you made a couple of stupid mistakes—a person with a 730 on math is not necessarily better than you.

That being said, you are a white male, and high test scores will be expected of you—especially given that you are going into a mathematical field like architecture.

I might retake once more, and just practice the art of not making stupid mistakes.

If not, it isn’t a big deal.

Why not book yourself for another nime sittings and make it an even dozen? Seriously, you’ve taken it three times - which is a lot already - and done quite well. Grinding it into the ground won’t impress colleges or help you.

Well, I feel that taking the SAT 4 times aint gonna impress any ivy.
I suggest you not to take it again. Maximize your Math subject test to show your math skills to em!
Getting a 700+ in Math after 4 seatings may reduce your chances.
You have great SAT.
All the Best :)

No, I wouldn’t retake. A 690 IS a 700, there is no difference as far as admissions value goes. Your SATII will make a difference. You did it 3x already, you are done.
