Should I retake? Discrepancy between sections..

So, this is what I got on my first try (no preparation):
720 CR
750 W (12 essay)
and..

580 M. :( haha

This adds up to a 2050. Math is definitely my weak point, but my major is going to be print journalism and I'm not applying to any extremely selective schools, save for U. of Carolina:
~UNC-CH (in-state)
~UNC-Asheville
~American University
~Syracuse University
~Warren Wilson College (crazy commune school in the NC mountains haha)

Should I take the SAT again? I feel like maybe if I do some prep I can raise the math score about 100 points, bringing the overall score to a 2150, which would be nice. But do you think that's necessary to get into the aforementioned schools (by the way, I'd love to get some nice merit scholarships from American and Syracuse)?

I am NO expert when it comes to the SAT's but whynot retake and study extra hard for math. If you do well use your high math score with the other scores you got on the other test. You never know, you could do a lot better on math

yes....retake

i think 2050 is a great score for the colleges you are applying to. but why not retake? im sure you can improve. good luck!

I got a 580 for math a few weeks of intense studying a few weeks before the test made my score rise to 680 so yeah it's not too hard to raise your score but just study hard.
