the thing is, i know these are good scores.. but the writing is bothering me A LOT. Im the editor-in-chief for teh school's newspaper, i get all the English awards at school, and I'm taking AP Lit & Comp.... Plus, i get articles published in newspapers & etc!!

I would only take to improve writing. Is it worth it? All my practice tests i've taken i've gotten 750~780. This is frusturating.

don’t retake, unless you’re 100% positive you can get a higher score. 2100 is essentially the “limit”; it’s sorta a qualifying number; colleges really don’t mind what exactly your SAT score is as long as it’s higher than a 2100.

so I would suggest: no, don’t retake. 2280 is already exceptional.

If it does bother you that much, and you feel you have a weak score for your regular ability, also, if you know you can do better, then retake it. You might just do a little better on the other sections too :)

<3 the SAT, just means love the SAT, since <3 looks like a sideways heart

They aren’t good scores, they are GREAT. If it were me, I’d be happy to have the extra time to concentrate on my apps & essays and hopefully enjoy the rest of senior year. By now I’ve had it with standardized testing - but everyone is different. If you’re willing/able to take the chance, then go for it. Good Luck!

Wow! 800 on Math. I feel embarrassed. with my math.
It depends on u. If u taken the exam some months ago and lack preparation, it will take time to catch up especially on the vocab. But if the materials are fresh go ahead. U might even break the 2350 range.

OP, what do you think your score means? What do you think scoring higher will mean? I think you should check out what collegeboard says it means, i.e. scores represents a range of possibilities, with some overlap.

I think you should retake if you know you can do better. Even if it’s just in one section (you can get a better superscore that way)

2280 is a really good score, but you will be even more competitive if you get 2300+ or 2350+ (which you’re close to! :)) If you can spend some time studying and pull that, then it’ll be a major plus for you. If you have already studied and think you have reached your potential, then don’t worry about retaking. Judging by what you said, you can probably get your score higher.

Lol, since this thread has two pages already compared to my measly two responses(although greatly appreciated ones), I’ll pose my question here

Should I retake?

I took the November SAT for the first time as a junior and these were my results:
CR - 740
Math - 780
Writing - 740 Essay-10

I really think that I can do better on writing and critical reading, now that I am more familiar with the test, and possibly score a 800 on math(I had a math experimental this time that drained all my energy). I also didn’t do almost any prep at all for this test(maybe a few practice tests). If you think I should retake, what is the best date and what prep should I do to get those final points? Thanks in advance

yeah, no please dont steal my thread., “bad boy.”

AHH i dono what to do
i know i cant improve for CR & Math
BUT I KNOW I CAN IMPROVE WRITING!!
should i still retake for the sake of superscoring? or will that jsut look bad?
