My other subject test scores are solid: 800 in U.S. History, 770 in World History, 760 in Math Level II, 730 Chemistry, and 690 Bio. However, my Lit score was a horrendous 530. I didn't prep at all in January and stupidly assumed it would be easy. Assuming I get about a month of preparation in after the Nov SAT, would it be worth it to retake Lit and aim for at least the high 600 range?

If you are applying to non-Score Choice schools, then yes.

If not, it is not really worth the bother. Lit can be somewhat unpredictable in respect to improvement.

I am applying to Stanford, MIT, Cal Tech, Carnegie Mellon, and a couple of Ivies, so should I retake it?

Bump 10 char

Yes, if those couple of Ivies are Yale, Cornell, or UPenn then they are non-score choice schools. I am not sure without searching, but I think CMU is also non score-choice.

You should retake in order to hide the 530.

Non-score choice schools would still see the 530, no? Along with the new score?

Oh, actually I don’t know…

yes, those non-choice schools will ask you send all of your scores to them. I don’t think it’s a good idea to send your scores including 530. If you retake Lit and achieve progress, I think that will be helpful.
