I got a 740 on a mediocre test day. The registration for the August test is soon, and I’d have to do it then if I want scores in time for early decision applications. I have a 5 on the Calc AB test, but my reach schools require subject tests. Is a 740 good enough for a school like Cornell? I want to go into environmental engineering, if that helps. Cornell also doesn’t allow score choice, so will it look bad if I do worse? Thanks
It’s a decent score to begin with, but it will definitely look different than 790+. Subject tests aren’t a huge, make-or-break deal in the entire application, so if you want to fine-tune your app with every best detail possible, then retake. I’m retaking a 760 for Wharton ED. Hope this helps!
Yes, retake for any competitive schools. Too many get 800s on this test. I recommend practicing with the Barron’s book, as the questions in it test the same concepts but with higher difficulty. I never got above 720 on a Barron’s test and easily got an 800 on test day.
Good luck!
