Should I retake my SAT subject tests?

I’ve heard of people retaking the SAT reasoning test, but never subjects…I got a 2120 in my SAT reasoning test, and gave SAT subjects in Maths Level 2 and Chem just yesterday. I prepared well, but on Maths I just ran out of time and left around 10 questions :frowning: Chem was better- decent- but I JUST finished it, in time- left maybe 2 questions i don’t know the answer to, and I KNOW I def could’ve done better. I’m hoping I’ll get above 600 in Maths, but I’m really not sure.
Thing is, I assumed I’d be able to get above 700 in both, and made shortlists accordingly- I was thinking of applying to JHU BME), Tufts, U of Rochester- I’ve already applied to UCs- Among them, UCSD, UC Irvine need them for the majors I’ve applied to- but my academics (int’l student, so no gpa or rank) are good, but not stellar and I don’t have a whole lot of ECs either, so I was really depending on these to make my app strong. (Essays strong tho) I will be applying to a few Ivys just as reach colleges. Most colleges with Jan deadlines take the Jan test scores-right? Should I give them again? What is most imp in sat subject tests- the actual score or the percentile?

The SAT II Math test curves anywhere around 3-8 questions. So if you’re sure that you got all 40 of your answers right, there is a high chance you will still score over a 700. I took the math II yesterday as well and left 3 blank because my brainpower was virtually drained by then. I believe I probably got 1-2 wrong, so I’m hoping for a 5-8 point curve

OK…No, I’m sure I did not get 40 answers right, unfortunately. So until I actually get my scores, I can’t decide anything? I need to register for the Jan test before a certain date tho

Ok, I got a 740 in chem, and 670 in maths level 2. I know they aren’t good, but exactly how bad are they?? Especially for the schools I plan to apply to?

The percent is important not the score. Two 740s may be very different in terms of how good a score it is. I’d take th math again for sure if you can.

The percentile is important. Two 740s can be wildly different in terms of how good they are depending upon topic. Look at the percentiles. I’d suggest taking the math 2 over again since that is a very low score.

The 740 in chem is fine. It’s around 70th percentile, but for subject tests that’s pretty good.
Agreed on the Math 2 retake. You should probably do a lot of studying for it, many people prepare a ton for it so 15% get an 800.

Oh no  January registration deadline is gone…

The average for MATH II is 690 so you’re slightly below average

Don’t stress. Colleges will look at it for a second, then move on. It might hurt for engineering, but a single mediocre SATII is only a very minor blemish

Thing is, I’m applying to both Duke and JHU for BME :frowning: (and that’s their BEST program) Idk what to do, pls help me on this one? Is it worth it to be waitlisted for taking the SATs?? (I have an int’l test center) My SAT score is 2120, and chem subject was good, essays good as well- ECs not that spectacular…JHU is literally my number one choice, and I’ve always wanted to put in my best efforts there :frowning:
