Should I retake SAT if I messed up on Writing but did really well in CR?

Hey guys I checked my score today and I got M 800 CR770 and W690. I really dont like my Writing score, since with a 10 essay I was getting around 740 in Writing section. So I guess I screwed the Writing portion up. Now I dont know if I should retake or not, since now I haven't practiced SAT for 3 weeks, I can only get like 720 Max in CR. So would the Cornell addmision look for the Composite SAT score (add highest score of each section up) or the highest One Sitting Score? In other word would it be ok if I have CR720 and W740 for the November SAT?
Thanks in advance for your inputs!

well 1, what school are you applying to? and 2, i dont think they care much about the writing score - or at least i hope they dont... i did much better on math and reading than writing like you did although not quite as well (750 M, 740 CR, 700 W)
so, overall - i dont think it really matters that much - i think when they see a flippin 1570 on the M/V scale that they will able to look past a slip up on the writing portion

Dude, a 690 writing is not bad...at all.

Especially when coupled with your other scores for a total of 2260/2400.

I wish I had your writing score (mine is 620....). Now, what did you get on your essay? What was your MC score? I'm just curious...

I am applying to CAS. And just wondering, would award like 19th in Canadian Gr11s for math, 27th in Canadian Gr11s for Chem, 2nd in region for American Physics Bowl Division I, 4th in a Canadian Gr11 phy contest, 7 in AIME stuff help my application a whole lot? cause that's like almost all i ve got.. So basically my academics is ok except for English, in which I got 80% and a predicted 4 for IB, and my ECs are not really significant and essay not that spectacular.. hm plz comment on my chances? thanx

Cornell takes the highest scores you ever got, which means if you get a 750 on everything the next test. They will still take your 800 Math Score, 770 CR, and add the 750 on it. Rocks, huh? I'm pretty sure, but you would want to doublecheck.

I got 10 on my essay, which then combined with my prac exams result would give a 740.. but then it didn't quite happen. I got 67 for MC in this SAT. To tell the truth, I got this high on SAT just by doing crazy amount of prac exams, 18 of them. And analyze how I made my mistakes. If I, an ESL Level 1 student in grade 8 can do it, I m sure all of you guys can do as well if you do enough practice. I guess I wont be retaking this SAT, so yea, haha No More SAT for me. Thank god. And GL with all u Nov SAT takers!

"If I, an ESL Level 1 student in grade 8 can do it, I"

Sigh, beaten by an eighth grader. What a miserable existence.

I m wonder what they will think if they see a 700 on CR, which I really think that's what I would get if I take the Nov SAT. So I guess I m not gonna take it..

Sorry grammatical error -_-||... "i had been" (or w/e the tense is)... ok now you see how bad my English is and I can still get good SAT scores.

Congrats, tiger. Now all you have to worry about is if they change the format of the SAT before you apply. Oh by the way, they throw out scores from tests taken longer than three or four years ago, because I know that my scores from the CTY talent search aren't appearing on my official "scores" list. you might have to re-prep to retake the SATs in a few years...bummer.
