I took the SAT II freshman year after taking Honors Biology and got a 790. I have taken AP Biology this year and am pretty sure I can get an 800. If I plan to major in biology (or take the premed route) and am looking to get into a "good" college, is it worth it to retake for the 800?

Not really. It’s a waste of money in my opinion. Not to mention if the colleges require you send them all scores it’s just going to give them the impression you’re a little bit too nit-picky. There’s nothing wrong with having a 790 - in fact, that’s a pretty stellar score which, combined with good ECs, GPA and SAT1, is going to get you into any good school.

If you want the admissions committee to view you as someone who has nothing better to do with their time than take tests and grub for grades, by all means retake. Otherwise, move on.

^i never got why people said that. why is it bad to be viewed as a “perfectionist”?

^ because you are aiming for higher scores to get admission into a top university. Getting a 800 instead of 790, or just perfect SAT scores alone do not make an application for admission perfect. you got to cover everything else like GPA, EC’s Essays, volunteering etc. Once you got 790, 800 is not going to make it more perfect in that particular subject, focusing on improving other things which cannot exactly be quantified.

This is like whining because you got a 99% instead of a 100% on an essay.

Don’t retake the test. Do something more valuable with your time. It’s that simple.

I agree.it could actually hurt you (bad judgement) to take it over to get the 800. And if you get a 730 next time it will look really
silly.
