After taking honors biology this past year, I scored a 790 on the SAT2 Biology M exam. I’m happy with my score, but I don’t know if I should retake it this year (after AP Biology) to try to get an 800. Should I take it again and risk not beating my previous score if I am having a bad day? Or should I just keep my original score?
Just keep your original score. There’s probably only 1-2 questions difference between a 790 and an 800. A 790 is a fantastic score. Don’t retake.
Retaking a 790 is just a waste of time. Spend the time on other things. Great job!
Thanks! So you don’t think that colleges will see much of a difference between a 790 and 800?
Nope, not at all. Out of all the things in your application, this would not be the thing to make or break you.
Agreed. I truly doubt that if you get rejected with a 790, that you would have been accepted with an 800. Even for the few colleges that request subject tests, those scores are but one small part of the application. Be happy with the score and move on.
Agree with above posters. There’s definitely no difference in admissions terms between 790 and 800 and retaking could cause your score to go down. Great job!
