I got a 2270 on the SAT the first time I took it (800 writing, 770 CR, 700 m). Should I retake the test or spend my time doing other things? I already have more than 3 SAT 2s (800s on all except one) and am AP scholar with honor etc. I am just worried that my math might be a little too low.
I looked at my report, and I didn't really miss that many problems. The curve is a bit ridiculous though.
Suggestions?

Since a lot of colleges superscore, I think it would be helpful to retake. Focus studying on math, don’t both reviewing the other sections.

And I totally agree, the math curve is ridiculous considering that one small error in a problem can cost you 20-30 points.

A 2270 is fine in my opinion, though it really depends on the schools you’re considering. Unless you’re looking into Harvard or MIT or somewhere like that, I wouldn’t retake it.

Unless youre looking into math oriented colleges (MIT , CalTech etc etc ) I wouldnt retake it either

That score is amazing and you dont need to retake it… however since u have nothing to lose, if ur not insanely busy, i would just pound math and take it again…its not a big difference but higher is better at the end of the day… although ur score is high enough that it wont hold u bak from anywhere…

I would definitely retake it. The difference between a 700 and 800 is a few questions and easily done. If you get an 800, you’ll superscore to a 2370, so why not?

I have very similar stats (2260, same SAT II range, ap scholar with honor, etc) and I just retook it.

No. There is no good reason to retake a 2200+.

Perhaps because it will have an almost entirely insignificant impact on admissions chances? Yeah, thought so.

You already have an excellent score. Spend your time on the essays and the other components of your application, and on living the part of your life that doesn’t revolve around college admissions.

Your call. Retake it if you want to. Taking it again probably won’t make any difference to your admissions prospects.

Another vote for leaving well enough alone unless you are applying for engineering, applying to MIT, or something similar. If you’re a regular civilian, you can move on to other stuff, IMO. And if you have really strong SAT 2 or AP scores in math, you can probably leave your SAT alone.

Comes down to opportunity cost. How much time/effort would you expend, in total, trying to gain some additional points on the math SAT, and could that time/effort be applied to something else that would make your application better than the math upgrade would?
