Should I retake SAT?

I’m entering my senior year in high school. I got a 33 ACT that superscores to a 34. I only took the SAT once and got a 1410. I’ll be sending SAT II’s to all of my schools. Since my ACT is higher, I’ll send my ACT and my SAT II’s, but not my SAT score. However, for some of my schools (UPenn, Georgetown, Cornell, and UMD), the entire SAT history is required. This means that if I sent my SAT II scores, they would also see my 1410 SAT.

If I retook the SAT, I’m confident that I will get at least a 1500 without too much studying; however, is it worth the time and money to retake it? Or will my schools not care if my SAT is a lot lower than my ACT?

For my schools: USciences, Northeastern, and Drexel. I believe I only sent in my ACT and SAT II scores, but this was two years ago. Run by the admissions requirements for the schools you just listed, see if the SAT is required on your application. If it is, I wouldn’t worry so much about it.

For me, I had a 32 ACT and a 1760 SAT (old 2400 one). My current school, USciences, didn’t really care I had that dismal SAT score and they gave me the top scholarship they had. Also, I don’t think the ACT is superscored last time I checked, but look for yourself. It’s been two years since I’ve been worrying about what college I would go to.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

If you feel you can improve without much effort, then I would personally do it. Your ACT is close to average for those schools that you listed, and SAT is pretty low. It wouldn’t hurt to improve your SAT, but it probably wouldn’t make or break your application. If you really like these schools, and are confident about improvement, then maybe just take it once and be done. Then focus on your essays to make them shine.

Good luck
