I am interested in applying to UPenn but I'm not sure if my SAT score will hinder my application. I got a 1390 (2100 cumulative) on the SAT but a 34 on the ACT. I'm just wondering if it is worth it for me to take the SAT another time and hopefully get about 100-150 points higher...how much would this help my application since I already have what would be comparable a SAT score from my ACT score when it is converted?

Thanks for any suggestions.

lmao wrong forum buddy

^Very true.

I have a 2340 SAT but 33 ACT, since I got good scores in math and science but bombed reading. I figured that I would not retake the ACT to get 34/35, since my SAT was already up there enough. That’s just my situation and decision. Hope it helps.

am i the only one who never even bothered taking the ACT?

and yeah, with a 1390 you should at least be able to read the name of the forum you’re posting in. or is the SAT just that easy these days?

Don’t worry, there were only about 5 or 6 people from my school who took it. Mainly because my/their parents told them to. As you can see from my SAT score, I really truly didn’t have to take it. So if your SAT score is fine, don’t worry about it. The one advantage is that a lot of colleges say ACT with writing OR SAT and SAT subject tests. So a lot of times you can get out of taking subject tests if you have an ACT.

Haha wow, I meant to change it to Cornell but I just copied and pasted it from the other post I made in the penn forum…sorry

@ananya: i never bothered taking the ACT, either.

If you did well on the SAT, why bother with the ACT.

I however, took the SAT like 3 times, never had stellar scores. 2010 or something, not too great. Studied for it and everything, just didn’t like the test. Took the ACT once, had no idea that there was even a science section, and got much better scores. Got a 32, but that was dragged down by my abysmal reading/english sections.

Check out the SAT/ACT conversion chart on college board or google to get an accurate conversion of your 34 ACT. Great score by the way for most colleges.

Hah, are you just going to copy and paste your college essays too, replacing Upenn with Cornell?

:P

Never took the ACT here either. But why don’t you just send your 34, which is a reasonably high score?
