Should I retake SAT1 for the fourth time? Need serious advice please!

Hey guys, I really need some advice here, because I'm not sure what to do.

I'm a senior and I'm just applying to the UC's (berk, la, sd, i, r)
So far I took the SAT 3 times:

January 2008: 1980 (540cr, 760m, 680w 8e)
October 2008: 1990 (600cr, 750m, 640w 9e)
November 2008: 2020 (570cr, 760m, 690w 9e)

I already signed up for the December 2008 test, but a lot of people tell me that 4 times is way too much for the tests and I should just not take it, and a lot of other people tell me that you can take it is much as you want cause the UC's don't care and it's a waste of money if I don't take it because I already signed up for it. Some people tell me that the UC's will average my score if I take it more than 3 times, and some people also tell me the UC's don't care if you take it 4 times, as long as the score improves. I'm really confused, and I really don't know what to do now.

Honestly, I want to retake it because of my horrible CR score, but what do you guys think? If I choose to retake it, will 2 weeks be enough to raise my score significantly? On the Nov2008 test, I noticed I got almost ALL of the vocab q's wrong, so do you think I can raise my vocab in two weeks?

For writing, I noticed a lot of the questions I get wrong are in the identifying sentence errors... I just get almost all of the idiom questions wrong. Do you guys think I can improve this in 2 weeks?

And if I choose to not take it, is there any way I can cancel my registration? Or can i just not show up for the test?

I don't know what to do,
any help would be appreciated.

Go ahead. It won't hurt you, but you should really prepare well so that you see a significant score increase.

take it if you want to have a better shot at berk.

UC's use the best single sitting ; they don't average or see more than one set of scores. If you don't mind "wasting" the SAT money ( and I'm pretty sure you can cancel or not show up; check the website), you might want to take the ACT this time, but outside of College Con (and Cal/UCLA+/-UCSD perhaps), your scores seem fine.

Since your scores are similar, maybe you want to try out a completely different/new strategy? I can't hurt.

I think colleges only consider it an "improvement" if your scores improve by at least 60 pts. I don't think it'd hurt to retake, but you only 2 weeks before the December test and the deadline was a few days ago, so I'm not sure if you can really boost your CR by a lot. I think the best strategy to increasing your CR score is by understanding the main point of the passages. Always ask yourself, "So what?" Doing so really helped me, I think.

Yeah just don't show up, if you decide not to take it. I think your SAT score is already good enough for the UCs. It's already in the average for LA, Berkeley and SD. As long as you have a good GPA (UC GPA of 4.0+), then there is no real reason you should be taking the SAT.
