Hi guys
On the March SAT I got a 2300(750 CR, 760 W, 790 M but hopefully 800 after regrade). Most of the peers at the very top of my class, however, have scores 2350+. Is it worth retaking?

No

@PusatShrade: could you elaborate???

Do you really need higher SAT scores than your peers?

^MITer94: is it better to have lower scores than my peers? LOL

Ehh, I don’t think you should just because I believe you’re doing it for the wrong reasons. It’s not trying to compete with the best people in your class but your personal best. Yeah, cheesy, but still you should want to take it because you know you can do better and want to achieve optimal potential, not cause some kid has a 2350 and you don’t.

@fcallicotte: what if i feel like I can get 2350+ the next time I take it?

Then by all means, do it!!! If you think you can do better, which you probably can, then do it. But I have to tell you a 2300 is awesome as well and you should be extremely proud.

A 2300 and 2360 are virtually no different to an admission officer’s eye, generally, mainly because they are both top percentile scores. However, if you are confident that you can do better, who am I to judge? Definitely go for it.
