I got an ACT composite score of 33(E:34, R:35, S:34, M:29) which I am pleased with except for math. I want to apply to schools like Cornell, Vanderbilt, Wharton and I was wondering if I should retake for math. I did get a 690 in SAT my first try and I am taking it again this week, so hopefully I will do better, but I am not sure schools will disregard the ACT math scores.
With a score of 33, you are the top 1% in the nation. Top 2% in English, top 1% in reading, top 1% in science, and top 7% in math. In my opinion, you are good to go.
I would retake it because bringing up math to over 30 looks really good to schools. I think schools view the ACT in a similar way to the SAT; math and reading scores are looked at over writing, so it is probably worth it to go for a higher math score.
I personally would retake it to bring math up which could potentially boost you up to a 34+. You’re in a great spot to be. Your score isn’t high enough so that retaking it would make you seem like a testing drone but not low enough to make you not competitive. In your position it’s just your preference good luck!
