I’ve taken the ACT twice and have gotten a 28 both times (however my superscore is a 30). I’m an incoming senior and am hoping to go to either UCSB, UCLA, UCI or UW. Would a 28 suffice for these schools or should I retake the test?
UC’s do not superscore so if you are targeting UCLA, UCSB and UCI, then yes definitely consider retaking the ACT. For UCLA, you are well below the 25th percentile, for UCSB you are at the 25th percentile and for UCI slightly above the 25th percentile although these are 2018 stats. I am pretty sure the admit ranges will be slightly higher for 2019. What is your intended major? HS course rigor? UC capped weighted GPA and EC’s? All parts of your application will be considered and the UC’s tend to be more GPA focused vs. test focused but due to the competitive nature for all the schools, you want to highest possible test scores to ensure a solid chance for an acceptance.
25th - 75th percentiles for ACT:
UCB: 30-35
UCLA: 31-35
UCSD: 28-34
UCSB: 28-34
UCD: 26-33
UCI: 26-33
UCSC: 26-32
UCR: 22-30
UCM: 19-26
