I’m looking to apply to UCSD, UCD, UCB, UCLA, and UCSB for in-state schools. I have a 4.12 UC GPA. (3.8 uw and 4.2 weighted for grades 10-11)
I just got my ACT score back and I got a 33 (first try) and I’m wondering if it’s worth it to take it one more time to try and raise it one or two (or three! just hoping) points for schools such as those.
I have solid EC’s, nothing spectacular.
So could you guys chance me for the schools listed above and please let me know if you suggest I take the ACT again.
I do realize that it’s fine for UC’s but would it help if I improved it a few more points for a more reachy UC like UCB or UCLA? Or is it not worth the time and effort?
A 33 is great for UCSB. I had a 4.2 GPA and a 32 on the ACT (first sitting) and knew I couldn’t do better the next try. Still made it to UCSB with honors. Will your W GPA go higher within the next year? I know San Diego is more selective than UCSB and UCD and Berkeley and UCLA will be reaches without a little bump.
It will improve during senior year when I send the mid year report, but I’m not really sure if that will make a difference at the end of the day. Will it?
There are no mid-year reports for UC’s. Your senior grades have absolutely no weight in UC admissions. Your GPA is excellent; don’t even worry about it! If I were you, I’d focus on extracurriculars right now.
