Should I retake the SAT for a 3rd time?

My first scores were, CR-660, W-650, M-600 (1910)
My second scores were CR-720, W-690, M-570 (1980)

I'm hoping that most of the schools I apply to will combine the scores, and in that case I'd have a 2010. But I'm worried that my math score will ruin my chances of getting in to the more selective colleges I want to apply to. I'm thinking I should retake the test in October and hopefully I'd get my score up to a 700, which is what I really wanted. For the past two tests, I haven't taken tutoring or classes, I've just studied a bit on my own.

The schools I want to apply to are Amherst, Bard, Brown, Claremont McKenna, Dartmouth, Mount Holyoke, Oberlin, Pomona, Reed, Sarah Lawrence, U Chicago, and Vassar. (CUNY Hunter and College of the Atlantic are my safety schools).

My average is about a 96, I have taken 4 APs, I have many leadership positions, I'm a minority, and have interned/volunteered at three places so far.

3rd time isn’t a bad idea, especially (if you feel that) your math can improve.

Get all the help you can. In most cases, three times is just about how many times you want to retake a test at the max. You MUST be able to do well on this third and final test.

I advise that you:
-Get a tutor (if you can afford it)
-Work more on practicing (have you tried the BB?)
-Read special prep books specific to areas that you need work on (e.g. Barron’s for Math)
-Read some guides on the CC! Some of them are really great (although I haven’t gotten to them yet). You can find them either manually or there are some other posts where people have suggested various threads (some of which, I believe, are stickied).

Good luck with your next exam!

Thank you both for your input  I guess I will be taking it a 3rd time this fall.
