Should I retake the SAT if I am planning to Transfer?

Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask for opinions on whether or not I should retake the SAT? I’m currently a freshman, about to enter my sophomore year at my local community college. My plan is to transfer to a 4 year university as a PoliSci Major with the ambition to become a lawyer after that.
My dilemma is that most schools that I am interested in, require me to send my High School transcript and SAT score. I was a horrible student during High School and due to my laziness and lack of motivation I barely graduated. I ended up with a 2.08 GPA and a 940 SAT score. It was not until I made a huge shift in my trajectory towards life and made new connections that I realized I never valued my education.
I was in no position to fail as I had everything I needed. A stable middle class home with a mother and stepfather. I am male of hispanic decent and gay, however I never faced serious struggles due to any of my identities to cause me to do poorly. I was one of the lucky ones.

As of now I have a 3.7 GPA and I am wondering if I should retake my SAT, which I don’t know if this could hurt me or help me in the long run. I can’t do anything about my High School transcripts and I know that could be a major factor when they are making their decisions, but I can retake the SAT. So with that said I wanted to ask what my best bet could be?

Thank you so much!

I would check the web page of your target colleges, but more than likely you don’t need to take it. Most colleges don’t accept scores from after HS graduation anyway. Do well in your second year at CC. That is what will matter when transferring to your four year college.
