Should I retake the SAT II Physics test?

I’m a rising junior and I need some advice. I took the June SAT Physics test and got a 740. I wasn’t too happy considering it has an amazing curve. At the same time I wasn’t expecting a great score because the subject test did not correspond well with the AP Physics 1 curriculum (the course I took). I did somehow manage a 5 on the AP though. Next year I plan on taking the Bio subject test and one or two others (haven’t made up my mine on which ones). I also didn’t study for the subject test outside of class before I took it (I know, I’m bad, but it was finals week).
If you were in my position, considering I want to major in neuroscience and will be applying to “highly selective” schools, would you study for the subject test and retake it in, say, October? Or should I just see how the other subject tests go and rely upon sending those in?

If you are planning in taking 2 other subject tests, I’d forget about the physics test. Since you took AP Physics 1, you know that this course, as well as all AP Physics courses do not align to the subject test. You’d be better off taking tests in subjects where your coursework does align.

That said, a 740 is still a good score, and even if you only opted to take 1 more subject test and submit the physics score, I highly doubt that your acceptance or rejection will hinge on the 740.

I’m in the EXACT position as you lol. I got a 740 on the May SAT Physics subject test and also got a 5 on the AP Physics 1 test :stuck_out_tongue:

I didn’t realize that the SAT subject test had so much more that we didn’t cover in class so I had to cram the last week before the subject test.

I’ve decided to just keep the 740 without retaking even though I’m applying to selective schools.
