Should I retake the SAT when my prior SAT score was 2050? I got a 35 on the ACT as well.

I read somewhere that they take only one, either the ACT or SAT (the one that scales higher). I think my ACT score
is pretty good so should I take the SAT again? Should be able to do 2150.

And no I didn’t post this in the wrong place, I’m doing everything in terms of Berkeley because it’s my dream school ^.^

Forget the sat. Your act will carry you. However, grades are valued much higher than testing for uc schools. Ec, leadership, essays are tied with testing, following only grades in importance. Idk your stats on that, but im guessing theyre good enough

folder6459 Since your ACT score is exceptional, weigh any pros and cons you may have before spending time raising your SAT score. i.e. Should you be raising your grades in class instead? Do you need to prepare for the two SAT Subjects tests? (especially for engineering) Should you be improving your essays? Spend your test prep time wisely; it is always valuable to get the highest score possible of course, it is never a waste to try again since scores can also contribute to scholarship consideration. But consider the cost or sacrifice. Do not sacrifice your grades for test scores, or sacrifice polishing your essays, or improving other test scores that will add additional value to your application such as SAT Subject Tests. Many students are trying to excel at both tests; it can be beneficial for scholarship consideration. But as mentioned please consider the other areas you need to be working on to complete the best application package you can. Test scores are one of 14 factors of consideration for admission to UC Berkeley. <a href=“More Students Are Taking Both the ACT and SAT - The New York Times”>More Students Are Taking Both the ACT and SAT - The New York Times;

Good luck!

http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/pdf/reference.pdf</a> indicates that a 35 ACT is like a 1560 SAT CR+M or 2330 SAT CR+M+W.

So it seems like not worth the bother to take the SAT again (though if you are applying to the CoE, taking SAT subject tests in math and a science may help a bit).

I agree that your ACT is outstanding. Leave the SAT and focus on SAT2s and your coursework.

I agree too, don’t even think of taking SAT again. Now a days every school accepts ACT. My son got 1480/2230 in SAT and 35 in ACT. If the school accept either SAT or ACT, and with your exceptional ACT score, send only ACT score. Spend your time on getting good grades, writing good essays, and also for SAT subject tests.
