Should I retake the SAT?

<p>I scored a 590 in the writing section of the SAT (essay (2x3)).
My total score came out to a 2130 (800 reading 740 math 590 writing)
should I retake the SAT to improve my writing score even if I score lower on the other two sections?
I looking to apply to some selective private colleges and Cal. </p>

<p>Additional information:
The first time I took the SAT I got a 690 in the writing section, but I know that UCs don't superscore (right?)</p>

<p>mhm. Maybe retake but when you practice, practice the other subjects as well because you don’t want to have too high writing score and too low scores for the rest.</p>

This will sound really dumb, but I wanted to conserve brain power for the multiple choice section.
I should have stuck to a format instead of just bsing it.</p>
