So on my first attempt on the SAT, I received a 730 CR, 620 M, and 690 W for a composite of 2040. The time to schedule a retake is rapidly approaching-but I'm wondering exactly how much a retake would help me. The schools I'm considering include Quinnipiac, Penn State, UMASS Amherst, Fairfield, Stony Brook, and Northeastern.

Yeah, I would take it again if I were you. You could potentially turn some of those schools into safeties assuming the rest of your application is good.

raising your math score would make your investment pay off in scholarships at some schools and also for local scholarships. It’s probably worth it, though I have no specifics for your school choices.

Yes, i would retake it. UPenn is very competitive and your 2040 is good but doesn’t stand out. It also depends on how you think you did. If you think you did a lot of prep and tried your best, but don’t have to retake it, but it can’t hurt to try.

^dude, he said penn state, not upenn. Considering the schools ur applying to, u dont really need to. Ur scores are already well in the 75th percentile. Retaking always helps though. So if u feel its worth it, the time and effort, then go for it. I say u should retake and maybe apply to one or two reach schools

I feel like your SAT score gives a competitive shot at all these universities. If you feel you can break 2100, it never hurts to retake it a 2nd time

I know for a fact, those score can get one into UMass and Fairfield. It appears to me you are in the match range for all of your schools. Have you considered anyplace a little more reach such as BC or Villanova?

With those schools, there is probably no reason to retake the SAT. However, if you raise that score by a decent amount of points, you could potentially aim higher.
