Should I retake the SAT?

Hello CollegeConfidential
I’m a rising senior and I am wondering if I should retake the SAT for a 3rd time. As a sophomore I took the PSAT and received a score of 164 (CR- 53 M- 61 W- 50) with no prep. I then took the SAT for the first time December of my junior year and recieved and 1820 (CR- 600 M- 700 W- 520) with no prep once again. Then this June I took the SAT for the second time and improved by 280 points to score a 2100 (CR-730 M- 730 W- 640) with about a week or two of prep. I received a 6 on the essay in both the December and June tests so there is a lot of room for improvement there. I am wondering if a summer of prep work would benefit me a lot to try to go closer to the 2200-2400 range.

I would greatly appreciate any advice on the topic of test prep if you believe it would be smart for me to retest.

Thanks

@jcruns1005 It depends, where do you want to apply? For most schools, even top schools, you are within range! Do you have time to study and retake the test? Do you still have to take SAT subject tests? Maybe it would be more beneficial to focus on the rest of your application? If you really feel that you can improve greatly go for it! But maybe you should focus on other parts of you application.

Definitely, math and cr look fine, but writing has room for improvement. It’s all about knowing the rules and applying them in practice tests. If you have the time, then go for it. Good luck!

How did you bring critical reading up so much? Nice job!
