<p>I took an SAT test this past March and got a score of 2180 (CR:720, M:720, WR:740). This is the third time that I have taken the SAT and my parents are urging me to take the test one more this this coming fall so that I can get a score of 2250 or higher. I was just wondering if you thought it would be worthwhile for me to take the SAT one more time and improve my score because I'm worried my GPA might be too low. I'm aiming for UC Berkeley at the moment.

<p>I would advise against retaking. Since you’ve taken the test three times already, it is unlikely that you’ll see any further improvement, even with extensive studying. Also, we’d be able to give you more detailed advice if you provided your GPA. Are you in-state or OOS?</p>
<p>If you check out the schools website and everything you see that their average students have SAT scores between 1810 and 2190. and you are well towards the top of the list, so just depending on your ECs, gpa, and the other stuff i would say that you have a good chance of getting in (also depending if you are planning to declare a major right away) without retaking your SAT test. Also, do you have SAT IIs?</p>

Anyways, my GPA is 3.8 unweighted, and 3.98 weighted.
That is the not the UC GPA, just the once on my transcript. I have yet to to calculate the UC GPA.
I am also in-state (i live about 30 minutes from UCB) and will most likely have a major that is related to law, english, communication, etc. something of the sort.
I would like to think that my extracurriculars are pretty solid. I am going to be president of two clubs during my senior year, editor of my newspaper, played four years of soccer, have achieved merits with piano, student body treasurer, girls state participant, held a consistent job for the past 1.5 years, etc.
Lastly, yes I do have SAT IIs. I just recently took Math IIC (800) and Lit (680) this past June. I also took the Korean SAT II Language test a couple years back and got an 800. I’m considering retaking the Lit because I didn’t prep for this subject test at all and want to raise it to around 720. I think that the Lit score would be more “respected” than the Korean Language score. But, I’m not sure.</p>
<p>Also, I mainly considered retaking the SAT because I thought that collegeboard came out with a new rule that colleges could not see how many times you took the sat. so, I thought it wouldn’t matter if I took it a fourth time. could someone clarify this issue for me please?</p>

<p>no as i said in my other post. their average is around 1810 and 2190 so you would be fine. But also it depends on all your other app info as well like ECs, gpa, class rank, etc.
and it does not offer early action or early decision

<p>Why not retake? Taking it a 3rd time is almost never looked down upon, and even if you do worse, they’ll still take the 2180.</p>

<p>it should be on your grades that your schools sends you like your report card. or your transcript or something. if you guys are unable to view these you could always call up your schools and talk to your counselors. they would definitely know</p>
<p>My brother was accepted to UCB in 2006 and had around the same score as you. 2150ish. His GPA was about a 3.9, so it looks like you’re well on your way. If you really think you can do better you should take it; even if you increased 20 points you’re at a 2200. but it’s not like you’re out of range, you’re on the top. good luck!</p>
