should I retake the SATs?

Hi,
I took the January SATs and got these scores:

CR: 750
Math: 770
W: 780
Combined: 2300

I'm aiming for Ivy League colleges next year, and my mom won't stop bugging me about retaking my SATs T_T I'm pretty much clueless on this stuff, so I was wondering about a couple things. One, are these scores okay for the colleges i want if i'm asian (the asian curve of doom...) or is it not worth taking it over again? i know they count a lot of other things, but is there some kind of standard score? Also, if i retake the test, will they only look at my best score in each section or will they look at the best combined score?

i personally don't want to retake them, but i will if i have to and it would make my mom happy =_=

i dont have much experience, but i would say those scores are great!

It’s a terrific score. It will put you in the top tier in almost any school. Having said that - some schools “super score” which means they will take the top score from each section and combine them into a superscore. Some use this superscore for admissions, some for scholarships. At some schools, the top merit scholarships will only go to “perfect” or nearly perfect scores, because they have superscored a 2400 or a 36. Yes some schools even superscore the ACT sections, not a lot, but some.

If you google “common data set” “name of school” 2009 … you can find the stats for the schools you are interested in for their 2009 freshman class. This will tell you pretty quickly how your score stacks up.

okay thanks! i’ll try looking up the common data sets. this superscore stuff doesn’t seem very fair to me though…:o
