Hi all

I just received my sat scores and got a 2310. 780 math, 770 cr, 760 writing. Should I retake it? I know a lot of people say 2300+ is all the same but you can't deny a 2310 is different from 2380/2400. Also, is it even necessary to retake the act anymore? I received a 30 which doesn't even compare to the 2310. Your input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What colleges are you thinking about ??
I believe 2310 is more than excellent , and is more than enough .
And don’t retake tha ACT , just send in your SAT score. You don’t need both , one of them is enough , and your SAT score is much better than your ACT score .

I mean clearly there is a difference between 2310 and 2380 in that 2310 ≠ 2380. This 70 point difference in your scores is not going to be what puts your application in the admit or reject pile – as in, the difference is not going to, independent of all other aspects of your profile, make a final decision. You’re over the 750 threshold (which is an arbitrary one but we will categorize for the sake of this being college admissions) so I personally don’t think it’s worth it to pay to take the test again, or to waste any more of your time studying for it. Put that time towards your essays, applications, or put that money towards visiting schools or something. You can include the ACT score for kicks but most schools (at least the ones you’re probably looking at) superscore.

So, in sum, if you want to waste time and money for what is ultimately a negligible difference in your profile and in your life, then you can retake the test again. But don’t think that you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage by sticking with your already excellent score.

dont waste your time and feed the CB any more of your money

you got 2300+ (hopefully on your first sitting) and your breakdown scores are well-balanced.

gratz on the great score!

Thanks everyone. I’m not going to take it or the act again. done with standardized testing except for maybe another subject test.

Sadly, this waSnt my first sitting, the first time I got a 2130. Me being stupid, sent both of those scores to my top choices (harvard and mit). That won’t make a difference as both of them superscore right?
