Should I send an update?

Hi,

Should I send email updates to the colleges I’m applying to?

Since I applied, I was chosen as a National Merit Finalist (I had on my application that I was a Semifinalist), entered a short story into a competition (I didn’t really think this was worth sending, but my mom seems to think it is), and submitted my Girl Scout Gold Award Final Report (unfortunately, it will almost definitely be too late by the time I hear back from the council, but it might be good to tell colleges that I completed my project?).

Do these seem like worthwhile accomplishments, or would they just annoy the admissions people?

Thanks!

I honestly don’t see a need in sending these. They probably figured you got NMF based on your NMSF status and subsequent SAT scores. The other two aren’t really accomplishments, but rather potential accomplishments. If you really want to send them, do it, but I don’t see a reason.

However, if your colleges track interest, and you haven’t emailed your adcon in a while, or at all for that matter, you may want to send a letter of interest, and mention these “accomplishments” to kill two birds with one stone.

Just my opinion
