Should I send both ACT scores?

I took the ACT twice. The first time I received the following scores:

Science: 22
Math: 28
Reading: 23
English: 25
Composite: 24

The second time I received the following scores:
Science: 25
Math: 25
Reading: 25
English: 29
Composite: 26

Should I send both test score dates because I decreased my math score? The 28 in math would increase my composite if recalculated to a 27. Will the 28 make a difference?

The ACT charges for each date you send, so sending 2 dates costs twice as much as one. Check the policy of the schools because some require all tests.
That said, what’s your major?
If math is more important to your major, send the first. If english, send the second. Generally, send the highest composite.

Hello AVHS, Thank you for replying!
At this point I do not really care about the cost, but my major is political science. A 26 is not considered a good score (at least for the competitive schools that I am applying to). I thought that the math would help, but if it will not make a great difference you’re right I would rather save the money. Do you still think I should send both?

Definitely check the policy of the school when it comes to ACT. Some schools are VERY specific about wanting to see ALL scores. I think it’s good that your composite went up. Given a choice, I’d just send the 2nd.
What schools are you considering applying to?

I’m a junior who is taking the Feb ACT test. Do I still send them to schools since I’m not applying yet? I cannot find any information on this, and I haven’t been able to ask the guidance counselor.

getacar: There’s no reason to send them yet. A lot of schools pay to get lists of people who took the SAT/ACT and score within certain ranges. Same thing with the PSAT. Just by taking the ACT you’ll probably get lots of email/snail mail from colleges you’ve never heard of, and a few you have.

Wait until you are ready to apply and decide then. What scores and where. Some schools ask for ALL scores. Some will superscore - yes even the ACT - google “superscore ACT” and you’ll find a list. Your score would actually be a 26.75 superscored, which rounds to a 27. You might find the Feb test gives you the highest score - or you take it in June. You have some time to figure this out. Go back and read previous threads on this as well.
