So I’m a senior right now and I’m going to a community college first before transferring to a 4 year school. Because of all the college classes I’ve already taken, I’m going to be a sophomore when I get to college (given that I get at least a three on all the APs I took this year). So I’m planning on only being at my community college for one year, and applying for other colleges after my first semester.
My colleges will only have one semester of actual grades to look at though (I’m taken 6 classes my first semester) because I don’t have grades for any of my AP classes. I did take on Syracuse University class during high school, so I have a grade for that.
I want to know if, because I’ll only have 7 actual class grades when I apply, should I also send my high school transcript?
I’d honestly rather not, because I’m a good student, but I’m not stellar. I’ve gotten 80s and 90s in all my AP classes, but I’ve let my academic classes go a bit so I could focus on my APs. I got a 1780 on my SAT. I only took it once without studying. I got a 630 in writing, a 680 in verbal and a 470 on math. I really do not want to take the SATs again because I have to send them to my colleges. I got a 750 on the US Subject Test and I wouldn’t mind colleges seeing that and I’ve gotten a 4 and a 5 on the APs I took last year.
So I want to know if I’m going to have to/is it recommended that I send my high school transcript/SATs when I apply to colleges?
You’ll probably have to, won’t you? Google the transfer requirements for some of the schools that interest you.
George Washington is my top choice and on their website they say to send your hs transcript if you have less than 30 transferable credits. Honestly, I’m probably not even going to go there if I find out that less than 30 of my credits aren’t going to transfer. But when I apply I should have about 60 credits, but only about 30 of those are going to have grades attached to them.
You need to check the GWU about your plans. Do they agree to admit transfers from your CC who have completed a full AA or AS as juniors? Or will they look at your courses individually? If they don’t have a formal transfer agreement, you need to carefully check the GWU AP policy to verify which (if any) of your AP exams can be used for college credit there.
