Should i send my SAT II test scores?

<p>UVA "strongly" recommends sending two sat subject test scores as part of your application, the only problem is that i did what i feel is awful on mine. I got a 640 on math 2 and a 640 on U.S. History.
The rest of my application is pretty decent:
4.31 weighted GPA
2000 SAT (700 math, 640 reading, 660 writing)
lots of AP courses
varsity club sport
treasurer of recycling club</p>

<p>So overall i am wondering which option will cause the most harm; complying with the "strong" recommendation and sending my scores, or withholding my scores.</p>

<p>Those scores are pretty good. The percentile is slightly skewed because of how self selective the pool of students taking Math 2 is. For US History, that’s a pretty good score too. I would reccomend putting it. It’s very unlikely that they will see your entire application and say well, “s/he got 2 640s instead of a 700. Guess we can’t admit them!” Don’t panic. Numbers are only one part of your application. In addition, if they highly reccomend something and you don’t do it, it would look bad on your part. I’m sure they’d rather see you try than not do it at all.</p>

<p>Yeah the main thing i was worried about was the percentile that came up on google but that makes me feel a lot better about the situation, thanks a lot!</p>

<p>If you do not have a good reason, send your scores. “I got bad advising” and “the tests are not available around here” and “I broke my leg that morning” are good reasons. “I was dissatisfied with my scores” is not a good reason.</p>

<p>In college admissions, “optional” is code for “we expect you to do it and will definitely notice if you don’t,” and “recommended” is code for “if it is at all possible, then consider it required.”</p>

current 4th year at uva and am looking to help students as this website was helpful for me during my admissions.

i would retake your subject tests. the subject tests are another piece of the admission puzzle and you do not want to leave doubt on the admissions. you have a solid SAT score and you need to validate that further with a better SAT subject tests. I would study my ass off and aim for a 700+ in those two.

is it not too late to take them again? the deadline for application submission was yesterday

ah gotcha, did not know that. well, i guess there’s not much you can do from your end. your scores are not bad so i wouldn’t stress too much about it
