Ive been interested in politics for a very long time, ever since middle school. Currently a sophomore right now. I want to start one but not a young democrats or republicans club. Something more non leaning like an awareness club. I feel like i couldve started this earlier but the elections are about to come to an end. Any ideas what the club should do, even after election season?? Any tips??
Awareness of what? I think everyone’s a little too aware of politics right now.
Right, there’s awareness of the mechanics of voting (so organizing registration drives), to awareness of issues, candidates, and legislation (forums and debates).
You should look at established organizations like the League of Women Voters and Common Cause for nonpartisan efforts that maybe you could tweak for 15-18 year olds.
What about Model United Nations?
