Should I study abroad?

I just got accepted into my university's abroad program in Spain. It's basically like going to school at my university except it would be in Madrid. In other words, I pay my college tuition and, for this program specifically, the grand total of around $22,000 covers insurance, housing, tuition, airfare, and an estimated amount of personal expenses. All of my financial aid would be applicable meaning that I would only be paying around $5,500 for the entire semester if we base it off the grand total. That's about $2,000 less than what I'm paying now.

That said, could I really afford go off to Europe considering that the tuition I do pay is kinda rough for me? However, I don't think a trip to Europe would ever be possible for me, especially with this price. Though I don't plan on being able to afford much traveling or going out all the time. Should I go?

Hi. I’m assuming you were accepted into your school’s exchange program. Does your school offer other study abroad options, like through affiliated programs (i.e CIEE, AIFS)? If so, it might be a cheaper alternative.

My school offers both exhange (pay your school) and affiliated study (independent program); so say I wanted to study abroad in France for a year: thru an exchange program I would be paying my college’s tuition (which is approx $16,000), but one of the affiliated programs only charges $14,000, so it would be cheaper for me to choose the affiliated program.

I hope I’m clear in explaning it. Good luck with your choice though :)

Yes. Definitely. And of course.
