Is studying abroad worth the money? Simple as that, just wanna know what people think
Yes
It depends on your financial situation, but for the new perspective you get and the sheer fun of discovery, I would recommend it to anyone.
In general yes. But I don’t know what the cost is to you. My dd’s financial aid covered her study abroad. Some people find study abroad cheaper than tuition here. But for some there is a surcharge. And of course there is plane fare and you want a bit of spending money more than usual so you can do things.
But it is invaluable if you are learning a language. And it is a bit of a once in a lifetime experience, travelling as a student. And it will really enrich your life perspectives I think.
Don’t go for the most expensive (and most highly marketed and publicized) programs out there. To give you an idea, I’ve seen Spanish language programs that would cost about $1,000 a month and I’ve seen other Spanish programs that would cost about $8,000 a month, plus I’ve seen some opportunities that would be free or paid by others. You can find cheaper ways to spend time abroad, possibly even by working abroad for pay or in exchange for room and board. I can’t recommend any specific programs because you didn’t say which language or country, but do some digging and creative thinking. If you have no preferences about language and country, then look for opportunities in more affordable places. But to answer your question – Yes, any (affordable) time abroad is absolutely worth it. It’s a huge learning experience in ways you cannot imagine beforehand, and shapes the way you see yourself and the world.
