Hey guys! I just got my new ACT score back and I think I will submit the 35 just based off of the conversion chart, but I am a bit concerned that admissions staff will be biased towards the SAT because it’s more prevalent on the east coast where I am. Also, most colleges have more SAT information than ACT information on their websites. Will I be at a disadvantage for submitting the ACT?
ACT
Definitely ACT
No disadvantage. Admissions officers are just as familiar with both these days. Good job!
ACT. I would not send the SAT. Admissions officers don’t even know what to do with SAT scores these days since conversions are off and scores are all over the place. A 35 is amazing.
You know you can submit both right? 1500 + 35 is not a negative at any University.
Why bother? The 1500 adds nothing to the application.
@suzyQ7 Thanks!
Not to hijack this thread, but this concerns me. Really? My HS-junior S has taken the SAT twice with good results. He can’t get equally good results on the ACT because he can’t move that quickly.
@keriell I faced the same dilemma as you when I was applying. I submitted my ACT.
@brantly
Send SAT. Most of students in the east coast submitted only SAT. My D never touched ACT. She diid niot like the ACT format. She did well in SAT. I don’t see why any college admission would have any problem with it.
Both of these are excellent scores. Neither can hurt you.
send the act. when converted, your sat score is around (i think) a 34 on the act, so your act composite score is still stronger.
@Keriell ,
For your situation, I agree with others to send ACT. You did a good job.
My D’s year was the first year of new SAT. She thought it was easier (she practiced on both old and new format).
She also practice ACT but did not like it and did not take it st all.
Like I said we are in the east coast. SAT is still much more popular than ACT. If your kid can practice both, she may be able to tell you which one she is more comfortable with. Whatever she prefers, she is likely to do better.
Submit the ACT!
I got a 1510 SAT and a 34 ACT and even then the ACT was narrowly better. Add an extra point and the ACT is much safer
It’s not the weather that gets to you in St. Andrews, it is the darkness. On Dec 21 the sun comes up at 7:16 am in Amherst, in St. Andrews it is 8:43 am.
The weather is pretty mild really. My socal girl is learning to layer and deal with rain and more rain. But the lack of sun in the winter is pretty bad.
