Should I Submit an Art Supplement to Penn?

Hi, I’m a junior in high school right now. I attend an art magnet school in Philadelphia, but I don’t want to go into anything visual art-related later. I’m wondering if I should submit a portfolio to Penn when I apply in my senior year. I would like to know because I read that sending supplements to ivies can actually hurt your chances if they are mediocre. Anyway, I’d like to know if I should submit a supplement because I’ll use the Summer to get it all together.

Here are some of my artwork if you want to get an idea of how they are: http://inkflair.deviantart.com/gallery/

I’m not sure if my artwork is good enough to be considered “good” by Penn standards. My school isn’t helping at all because we rarely send kids to ivies even though Penn is only 10 minutes away… the school is just really focused on sending students to local CC or state schools. I really need a clearer idea of how this whole supplement thing work.

Thanks!

I figure I probably wouldn’t be able to tell you because a person’s worst critic is himself. HOWEVER, your art is very good and I think you should send in a supplement. If it’s Penn’s standards, I don’t know but I think you should get a supplement together.

I agree. They are beautiful and it makes you less about the numbers you submit. From an amateur’s eye (that’s me), they are at least good enough that even if they don’t meet Penn standards, they probably won’t hurt you. But I bet you, they will meet Penn standards and make you an interesting applicant. Good luck!

You absolutely need to submit that. Really impressive.

Thank you all  I’ll use the Summer to get a portfolio together. Hopefully this will increase my chances.
