Should I submit an art supplement?

I've never felt confident enough in my poetry to submit for art competitions, but after having it reviewed by the LA department chair at my school and being told that it was really good, I'm beginning to consider this as an option.

I don't know if my level of competence is equal to the caliber of talent that colleges and universities expect from art supplement submissions, though. And I'm also unsure if it will hurt my application if it turns out to be lackluster in comparison.

I am not planning on majoring in the arts or humanities, if it makes a difference.

From the little that you’ve said, I infer that you are not a published writer, and that you have not pursued your writing in a structured fashion at your school or elsewhere. If this is so I wouldn’t submit it.

Not all art supplements encompass creative writing. So if you decide to submit review the detailed rules from each college regarding the scope of art supplements and the submission process.

I have spent a lot of time writing poetry and short stories, though. I wish there was some way I could reflect that in my application as it’s a significant part of me.
